Meet Our Technicians and Assistants

Val Zuercher, Veterinary Assistant

I started work as kennel attendant in 1972 here at Pekin Veterinary Clinic. Throughout the years I have worked at different local area vet clinics and landed back at PVC to work again as veterinary assistant.

My hobbies include bicycling and walking in Pekin’s parks. I enjoy fishing and the outdoors. My personal is a guinea pig named Groot. I also dogsit for my sister Candice from time to time. She owns an older, tiny pug named Juanita. I do enjoy her company. I have always enjoyed veterinary medicine and love being back to work at PVC, where it all began for me.

Andrea McCabe, Veterinary Assistant

I began working at Pekin Veterinary Clinic in 2019. Over the past 8 years, I have held multiple positions in the veterinary industry- from kennel attendant to receptionist. I finally found my calling as a veterinary assistant in 2016 and have been assisting doctors in the exam rooms and during surgical procedures ever since.

During my free time I enjoy spending time with my own fur children at home!  I have 2 dogs named Roobie and Syd. I also have 3 cats- Lavender, Flip Wilson and Buck. When I’m not at home, I enjoy hiking and exploring nature or doing something outdoors.

My favorite thing about veterinary medicine is being able to help educate clients on new ways to improve their pet’s quality of life, as well as watching them grow over the years! I look forward to assisting you and your companions at PVC!

Kimberly Moss, Veterinary Assistant

I grew up on a farm with lots of livestock and have always been interested in helping animals. My dad was a hog farmer and my grandpa was a cattle farmer and we raised horses. We had several other animals including sheep and rabbits as well as dogs and cats, so my passion grew naturally through my childhood. I have worked in the veterinary medicine field as an assistant/technician for about 10 years with a few years taken off to raise my family. My husband and I have been married 25 plus years and have 2 boys that I consider my greatest accomplishments. I now have 3 dogs and 2 horses of my own that are a huge part of my life. After raising my 2 boys, I now barrel race my horses in my spare time and do equine massage therapy. I love spending time with animals and the satisfaction I get knowing I have helped in the best way I can. Pekin Veterinary Clinic has been a huge blessing to me to help me carry out my passion even more.

Ivory Hungerford, Veterinary Assistant

My name is Ivory. I’ve been in the veterinary field since 2019, and I have learned so much. I love every second of being able to work with every fur baby that walks throughour doors. One of my favorite things is being able to work with exotic animals such as rabbits, snakes, lizards, etc. I plan on finishing my associates degree and hopefully be able to start schooling to become a Certified Veterinary Technician.

Shyann Jones, Veterinary Assistant

Hello! I’m Shyann Jones, I grew up in the small town of Elmwood, Illinois with my parents, an older sister and three large dogs. I was always involved in sports and extracurricular activities! I became very passionate about the care and well being of animals at a very young age. Biology soon became my favorite subject. I vowed to one day make it my career and to help be the voice of the animals.

I attended Robert Morris University for two years and started my career in Veterinarian Medicine soon after. I became a part of the Pekin Veterinarian Clinic as a Veterinarian Assistant February 2020. I enjoy being a part of an amazing clinic and wonderful team that I consider family!

I share my home with my small zoo! I have three pups: Zeus, Diesel, Tesla; and five kitties: Poppy, Sunny, Simba, Taz, and Tarzan. I enjoy spending my time with every single one of them whether its long walks or eating snacks on the couch! I look forward to giving the same love to your pet!

Isabella Raymundo, Veterinary Assistant

I graduated Magna Cum Laude at Illinois State University where I received a BS in Animal Psychology. I am very passionate about all animals and love to travel. While studying in college I traveled around the world to places like South Africa, Thailand, and Ecuador learning about veterinary medicine and animal conservation. As a veterinary assistant, I make sure to love every client’s animal just as much as they do! Better known as Bella around the clinic, I enjoy working with PVC because everyone here is passionate about making a difference in the lives of the animals and the humans that care for them every day.

Stephanie Preston, Veterinary Assistant

I moved to the Central Illinois area about 2 years ago from the Northern suburbs of Chicago. I joined the team at PVC in August of 2020. I am in my 19th year working in veterinary medicine. I’ve worked in a variety of practices including general practice, specialty, mixed animal, and emergency. I have a special interest in emergency and critical care; however, I also enjoy routine and preventative medicine. I am currently working towards my AAS in veterinary technology.

In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors and hanging out with my family, which includes my two boys Nathan and Logan. I also have five fur kids: a pitbull named Mama who is a rescue; Addison, a white shepherd mix and also a rescue; a new pitbull puppy names Skye; and two kittes- Jinx and Dexter.
