Amber Joliff, Veterinary Assistant
I am a veterinary assistant that has recently graduated from the Vet Tech Institute at Hickey College in St Louis, MO. I am one of the newest members of the Pekin Veterinary Clinic Team. I love my job and every aspect of it. I enjoy small animals including exotics as well as enjoy large animal as a hobby. I am specifically interested most in performing dentals, physical therapy, and assisting in surgery. I also have two Associates Degrees in Equestrian Science and Horse Science Technology.
In my spare time I enjoy training and showing horses as well as giving horse-back riding lessons. I enjoy both english and western styles of riding. I also enjoy teaching my Australian cattle dog, cory, how to herd the horses who I adopted during tech school. Over the years I have had many pets including reptiles, hamsters, fish, horses, dogs, and cats to name a few. I currently have two Great Danes named Riley and Windslow in addition to a Missouri Fox Trottter, Five-gaited Saddlebred, and an Arabian Stallion. Animals have always been a huge part of my life. They are a good judge of character and are always there for you when you need a friend the most. Becoming a technician has made me more able to return the favor to them in a variety of ways.
In any additional spare time i have, I like to work-out, read, socialize with friends, play the violin, play volleyball, and watch football. Go Dolphins!
Kelly Pennell, Veterinary Assistant
I've been in the technician field for over twenty-five years with experience in all technical areas including emergency, clinical, and surgical. I enjoy making a difference in my patients' lives, and helping an ill animal become a healthy pet again. Watching pet owners (especially their kids) take their special pet back home is all the thanks I ever need.
You name it, I have had it as a pet: horses, dogs, cats, chinchillas, guinea pigs, and fish. My favorite ‘pets’ are my two sons, Ben and Sam, and my first grandson, Trent. I am active in my church, Parkway Christian, both on the board and in the choir. I'm also a brown belt in karate and trained as a Military Police Specialist - Hoo-raa! Go, Army! If you cause trouble at my clinic, you'll run into me sooner or later...
My most current hobbies are Egyptology, birding, and anything on Sci-Fi. Yes, I am a geek and a nerd.

I have worked at the clinic for almost 2 ˝ years. I have lived in the Pekin area all my life and have always had a passion for animals. I have a “small zoo” in my own house, a zoo of several dogs and cats.
In my spare time, I like taking all my dogs hiking, hanging out with friends, watching movies, and doing outdoor activities. I love working at Pekin Veterinary Clinic because I’m constantly learning new things about small animals and playing with all the adorable pets that come to see us.

I grew up in Marquette Heights and now live in Pekin with my fiancé Shannon and 15 year old daughter, Brooke. We also share our home with 4 dogs and 3 cats as well as Myrtle our tortoise and Velcro the hedgehog. I have had a love for animals as long as I can remember and enjoy working with them every day. I lenjoy being able to help owners keep their pets healthy and happy. I have fostered and bottle fed too many puppies and kittens to count and enjoy watching a new pet go to a great home. In my spare time I enjoy watching my daughter perform with the marching band in the color guard, gardening and reading.
